HEY HEY CHINGAY!
I like RV so much for the CHINGAY 2016 performances. I did not expect anything fun at first as I have gone there lots of times for New Year, but it turns out astonishingly amazing!
This year's theme is about SG100 compared to other years where it was only for Chinese New Year.
The First Formal Chingay Parade in Singapore was mooted by the then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who was also the chairman of the People's Association (PA). Chingay, with all its noise and gaiety, would compensate for the ban on firecrackers, a customary New Year practice to drive away evil spirits.

For its first street parade on 4 February 1973, the PA teamed up with the Singapore National Pugilistic Federation for a grand show in the Year of the Ox, depicting aspects of Chinese culture – dragon and lion dances, martial arts and street opera.

So well received was the first Chingay Parade that the PA made it an annual festival. It celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2012.

I guess this years theme is much different from the past parade. SG100! Definitely, it will make all Singaporeans excited just by thinking. Throughout the performances, I guess they will also gain more knowledge about Singapore, and by that, I believe they will feel more proud to be a Singaporean.

Of course, by witnessing the vast parade and the vivid colors of the costumes and floats, cheerful participants and volunteers, effort put in by the people's association, I believe that it will be a huge success at actual parade, when all the Singaporeans will be so proud!

With that, I will just wait it to fulfill its purpose of celebrating SG100 and bond Singaporeans successfully!

Does rich necessarily mean you are happy?

Does rich necessarily mean you are happy?
No, rich does not necessaily mean you are happy. To be honest, I do not think there is a link between rich and happy, whether negative or positive. Happy is not depends on the money in your bank card, the marks you are getting for your examinations, or how popular you are.
Of course, though money is not everything, it gives you privilege to do whatever you want, and maybe that is why most rich people are not happy. because they already have everything, they do not have any other dream or things to achieve. Thus, they will begin to feel empty emotionally. Poor people never have the privilege to feel lonely or unhappy, as they need to fight for a living. However, in the world, there are people who are rich and happy. It is all about your attitude towards things around you I would say. People are lazy, and they like to enjoy that lazy, thus when lazy become a habit, becomes part of your life, it is not entertaining anymore. Poor people however, they can only be lazy when they are off from work, and thus they will feel happy to enjoy that part of lazy.
Thus in conclusion, I would say that rich does not equals to happy all the time.

Extraordinary in the ordinary
This a photo of a corridor in River Valley, second floor.
I really enjoy walking through this corridor as it relaxs me. This place looks so empty in this photo, doesn't it? However, it never is. This empty place is filled by memories, of our teachers, our seniors, our peers and of course ourselves. Imagine, how many pupils and teachers walk through this corridor chattering with one another, talking about their dream combination and sharing their joy of getting in? How many students open the lockers beside it to take their files and textbooks which makes them improve in a lot of aspects and eventually growing up, contributing to society? Not even to mention thenumber of seniors have or are studying diligently for A level at the room in the left. This plain corridor contains so many memories, so much dreams, so much hopes for future, and dreams, memories, hopes, are never ordinary. Everytime I walk through this, I will be reminded and thought about what other people have been doing other than walking through. Maybe it is just one of my creepy hobby, but thinking of that always make me happy. Will I one day come back to RV and be reminded of all the things happened just walk through? Will this ordinary place be extraordinary and deep in my mind then? In fact, I would say that this corridor is definitely extraordinary even if without any prestigious memories. The wonderful dreams, the naive memories, the cheerful hopes, make it so, and i wish, it will always be so.
